On Tuesday, State Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, his deputy Ajit Pawar, Home Minister R R Patil and Union Minister Shashi Tharoor were prominent among those who paid floral tributes to martyrs at the Police Memorial at Marine Lines in Mumbai. The first casualties were ATS chief Hemant Karkare, Additional Commissioner of Police Ashok Kamte and encounter specialist Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar who died in an encounter with the militants.

On March 28, 2010, Misra claimed in article published by The Milli Gazette that one of the two terrorist captured, David Headley, was CIA’s double agent. He also said thar Mumbai was an IB-CIA-Mossad-RSS joint project to destroy any future peaceful solution of the disputed Kashmir valley.
